Bhaiya Gacchibowli?
Auto drivers are
mysterious guys. You don’t even know what beckons you. And their response to
your queries-oh classic! They nod their head in quite the opposite way than the
rest of the world; like they nod their head in a no stance for a yes reply and
vice-versa. Amazing!
I went to Agra
Sweets at Whitefields to have some delicious jalebees but never knew what this
place had in store in me .
"No sharing….direct jata…" that's the reply from every auto that I asked till now.
Meanwhile I can
hear the voice of a girl asking the same to the driver, much to her dismay. I
never bothered to look back to see her but was quite curious. She was pacing
back and forth waiting for at least an auto that will take her to her place.
Ha! Next three autos were the same…cool. Who will take the whole auto for a
kilometer journey? Stupid fellows...
The auto will
take some time so I decided to pass the time. I called my friend at PG...
Oi re room e aachish to? Aare jilipi ta niyechi, kintu
auto’r jonne wait korchi….
(Are you in your room? I have bought the jalebees but
waiting for an auto..)
Nice way to let
him know that I bought the jalebees for them....but if it gets cold, it's not
my fault. On the way some of the pieces may be gulped by me...that too is not
my fault. I may get hungry...who knows...haha...
Tumi o bangali?(You are a Bengali too?) Asked the girl.
This is the
first time that I turned back to see the gaze of her. Ok let me explain….pure
as dove, wearing light yellow top, narrow jeans….god she was looking
good..Umm…that’s an understatement…it was fantabulous, soothing to the eyes…hot
to be accurate( I am not a good boy.....not bad either).
It took some
time for me to reply....and after scanning her for a minute I replied
"Yes...hai hai..."
I should do
something to my sheepish smile...seriously...I did that here too. For a girl
who has never met me before found it quite amusing...it sends a wrong
impression you know, especially when you are mesmerized by the beauty of the
god's beautiful creation.
There are many
Bengalis here in Hyderabad, you just have to find them; else you can go to
Kolkata House-a Bengali restaurant and
meet some. Anyways she continued her state...
"Kotokkhon
darie aachi ,kono auto ei pacchina....sigh"
(I am waiting
here for quite a long time, still unable to find one single auto)
Me: "It is like that here...are you new
here?"
She: "Yes I came here 2 weeks ago.."
Me:" Whoa, 2 weeks! That's more than
enough to know about the auto system here."
She: "Yeah I know. Actually I don't go out much.
My parents were here and they left two days ago. So now finally I am moving out
to explore a bit. Went to Ratnagiri to buy some essentials."
Me: "Hmm...nice..so what are you here for?"
She: "Oh...you didn't see me at office?"
Office? This
girl is in my office and I don't know of it. Quite natural; I can't keep track
of all the girls especially when new batches are joining every 3 months or
sooner. But the embarrassing moment is that this girl has seen me and I didn't
have a slightest clue of it. Is she spying me or what?
She: "Aare don't fret. I just joined recently
and in the afternoon shift. I saw you once in the IT canteen and once at the
cab pickup near the gate."
Me: "Oh, I see."
She just started
smiling and then I had to ask why. I shouldn't have, but then out of curiosity
decided to let her speak her mind...realized later that it was a bad choice.
She:"My friends term you weird. Always thinking
of something, gazing at nothingness and
even sometimes talking to yourself. Don't mind ok"
Yeah yeah
right....I didn't mind that.
When you see
yourself through someone's eyes you get to the real you. It's quite
embarrassing really hearing those things from her. Do I really do that? Well
yes I am a little lost about my assessments and other things. In addition to
that I still can't let go ruing about my love life ; it's been a year now since
my breakup but I can't forget about her. I hope she's fine. It's her happiness
that I ultimately want.
She: "See you are lost again....hello
o"
Me: "Sorry, will never happen again. And
hey what's with you? You don't even know me!"
She: "Ok sorry from my part too...didn't
really mean that. But FYI I never thought of you like my friends did."
Me: "Oh is it, then what did you think of
me?"
"Anna, kaha jana hai?"
I hate
interruption but then standing behind me was the auto driver who finally agreed
to our respective destinations though the place being Gacchibowli. Yes
finally!!
She sat behind
while I sat beside the driver as the auto was already occupied by some people.
My destination marker-Toys and More is not far from Whitefields. It takes
nearly five minutes maximum to reach there. I wanted to talk to her to know
what she feels about me but then it's not possible right now. I could see her
gazing at me through the looking glass of the auto. Feels great isn't it, a girl staring at you. My
weirdness can be a reason though. Who knows and who cares?
The jalebees i
got for my friends was getting cold.Thankgod I had some jalebees in the shop
itself along with kesar lassi. Oh...the taste was exquisite. Poor fellows at PG...will
get cold jalebees. ha ha...sarcastic wry of a smile flowed through me.
My stoppage
arrived shortly.I got down and gave ten rupees to the driver..
Driver: "Aap do ka fourteen ata...chaar rupay
do."
Me: "Huh??....aare ek ka hai...hum alag
alag hai"
She laughed so
hard at this...and said " it's okay"....
Her eyes stared
right at me, will I see her again? who knows? It's better to stare...and I am
very good at it.
She: "Anusha...and you?"
What's in a
name...I thought...anyways she will go her own way and I will go mine...
"Atanu...Atanu Chatterjee.."
One question to
all of you- Is my name funny? Take your time...
For her it
surely is for she again smiled again...and then laughed hard;typical.
Me: "Is something wrong with my name?"
Anusha: "Nothing,it's nothing?"
Me: "Then?"
Just when thing
is getting intense the auto driver started the engine and was ready to leave...
Driver:"Alag Alag....huh"
Sadistic as
hell! You win this time driver. Ek din mera bhi number aayega.
The auto was
leaving was leaving and just then she moved her head out and said:
Anusha:"Maybe we can talk at someplace better, and then
you will find out"...smiled again...and gave
me her number on piece of paper...
Did she just ask
for a date? just wow! I wanted to reply but this brain takes time to compile.
The auto had already left and so was she in it. All I had was a piece of paper
containing her number. What should I do with it? call her?
Ha! some other time,
cause right now all I need is the jalebees...yeah right jalebees. Even though i
had some at the shop but there is some commission for home delivery right.
One side food
and the other side related to the thought of a girl that I may never see again(depends
if I call or not).Seems like today is a good day....who knows it can get better
though.
Finished my
training yesterday.
Tezz chicken,
Bawarchi- I am coming....brace yourselves.
Start of
something new...fingers crossed.
