Another Happy Birthday Story

 “My nose hurts”

She laughs from the other end.

“What are you laughing at huh?”

Smiling she says “Told you before to not start a fight with my brother”

“Yeah, I am feeling that already...Ow!”

                “Aww...Baby did that hurt much?”

“You say much? He punched me right on my face!”

She continues to laugh.

“...and that is not even funny”

                “Okay...sorry”

“By the way, what are you doing tomorrow?”

“Its 9 pm now...all I can think is of sleep now”

“Oh common...we can have lunch or dinner together at least...the more the time, the better that is”

“Oh don’t you grin on this”

“I am certainly not”

Manav...I know you are doing that right now”

He smiles. He likes it when she catches him doing that.

“Anyway I can’t go tomorrow...my brothers are here”

“Brothers? Gosh...how many do you have?”

Laughing she replies “Honey, I have many brothers”

“But still, how many?”

“All you should know that three of them are here at home to meet me”

“Damn...”

                “Scared much huh? hehehe”

“Hmm...They should be”

She laughs. He loves her smile.

“Talk to you later okay...my brothers are calling...bye”

And just like that she cut the call before he could say anything. Funny, because if we guys do the same kind of act; then it would result in a lot of drama. You wouldn’t even know what and where you did wrong. The girl gets unnecessarily mad and the only thing that would cheer her up is your head on a spike.

Dropping the call she heads to downstairs to meet her brothers.

“Damn...he hit him really hard” smiling, as she murmurs to self while heading down the stairs.

“Hey” and greetings started to pour in as she meets them finally after a year.

This is her one time of the year were she spends some good time with her dear brothers together. She is happy.

3...2...1...yay...Happy Birthday!

“Congrats  Pooja” as everyone started wishing her.

“I just got older though” she seemed obvious but was cheerful to the utmost.

It’s her birthday today. She generally does not celebrate the same. To her it’s more like a day older. But everything else doesn’t matter when she sits on the dinner table on her most special day of the year. Her eyes simply lits up to the sight of the delicacies that her brothers make with their own hands, never ceases to amaze her.

Well growing old is mandatory while growing up is optional isn’t it?

“It’s so wonderful” she says as she gulps in everything she could have within her reach.

Quite the princess she is to her elder brother except for the fact that she loves that guy he doesn’t like; the guy who lodged a complaint against him, resulting in his one month suspension from college. All he did was rag...what’s the big deal!

The dinner is over and it is time to sleep. She hugs everyone and thanks her for the good meal and then proceeds to her room upstairs.

While she sets the door shut, someone grabs her from behind which unsettles her completely and she lets out a loud cry: “Ahhh” while looking behind at the same time.

“Surprise maybe?” Manav says after shivering from the sound of her cry.

“Seriously, what are you doing here” she asked being puzzled as she tries to calm herself.

“I came to wish my girl happy birthday” smiling he replies while there is a huge knock on her door.

“God, you are mad...now hide somewhere”

“Where”

“Somewhere...okay go hide inside that closet”

“Okay” he whispers while she slowly opens the door.

She could see her brother carrying a very concerned face looking at her wondering what made her scream out so loud in the middle of the night.

“What happened?”  He asked.

               Nothing...I almost fell” she replies.

“That was some loud noise...you sure you are okay?” he quizzed as he tries to scan her room from outside.

Yes, absolutely...hehehe...quite stupid of me though. Don’t worry”

Taking a pause he says “Okay, if you say so. Goodnight”

“Goodnight” she says while carrying a smile as she closes the door.

“Phew...that was close” Manav says as he grabs her from behind while coming out of the closet.

                Smiling she says “oho...stop it”

“Happy Birthday” he says kissing her cheek.

“Thank you” she replies planting a simple kiss on his hand.

Releasing his hold she asks “And by the way, how did you come to my room?”

Smiling he says “I improvised”

“You used the pipes again, didn’t you?”

“Yeah...I finally have mastered it now” he says showing the sense of pride in his act.

There was an uncanny pause in between them now as they were just looking at each other silently.

He breaks the silence by asking her “Hey, can I stay here tonight?”

                “No” she replies

“Yes” he giggled

                “No...Absolutely not” she asserted firmly.

“Oh common...no one will know”

You should go...my brothers are here remember”

“Ugh...all the trouble I took to meet you in the middle of the night and here you are pushing me away. Might as well push me out of the window”

                “Hehehe...I can try that”

“Are you serious now?”

She could see the fire in his eyes. The fire that was engulfing her slowly but she wanted more of it...she wanted to be lost in his eyes. She brings forth her hand and slowly touches his fingers brushing it aside a little. The conversation of the fingers was the best thing she could feel right now, yet she craved more.

                “Okay...an hour max” she says.

“...or two” he replies as he comes forward to kiss his girl ever so passionately.

The tension was in the air as it was getting hotter around them.

“Perhaps we should bring down the curtains”

You had to say something don’t you...god...you are such an ass”

“Oh common, what did I do? Rather, I think that being done is necessary maybe” he smiles.

“...and happy birthday...if I didn’t say that before” he continued as she pushed him down to her bed saying

                “Shut up”

A little less conversation and a little more...
...less conversation maybe. Hehehe...

I think the year would end on a good note.

Happy Birthday...Again! ☺
